Business Law | Construction Law

My passion is helping people. Professionally, I do that in two ways: first, as a litigator at Skufca Law; and second, as the founder of CO-Law, a lawyer coworking, law practice management, and professional development community.

In my litigation practice, I represent businesses, non-profits, licensed professionals, and individuals. My cases run the gamut: it could be providing advice and counsel about a business decision; or litigating a real estate dispute; a misrepresentation in an asset purchase agreement; a wrongful denial of a life insurance benefit; or defending a licensed professional accused of malpractice. The point is this: what I enjoy most is my clients. Getting to know them, being entrusted by them, and doing my best on their behalf. That part never gets old.

Outside of CO-Law and my practice, I am active in the Mecklenburg County Bar and the North Carolina Bar Association. I am a member of the CLE Committee at the Mecklenburg County Bar, where we help plan and organize continuing legal education programming for our members. I also co-chair the Wellness Committee for the Young Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association and serve on the board of BarCARES—a confidential, short-term, and cost-free intervention program to help attorneys across our state.

In my pro bono practice, I actively volunteer with the Legal Aid of North Carolina, helping clients through the Lawyer on the Line program and representing tenants in summary ejectment actions.

On a personal note, my wife, Elizabeth, and I live in Fourth Ward and love it. Being from Charlotte, I love seeing its development and growth. I’m always searching for ways to insert myself in that discussion. Outside the office, you can find us cheering for and attending the Charlotte professional sports trifecta—go Hornets, Panthers, and Knights (apologies to the Checkers and Independence). I trace my diehard allegiance back to my days as a ball boy for the Hornets. Aside from that, we love to travel—especially, skiing in Colorado.
