Matthew C. Dellinger

Business Law | Construction Law

Matt is a litigation attorney based out of the firm’s Charlotte office. He is in his ninth year of practice and is licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Matt operated his own solo law practice in Davidson, NC, and before that, he practiced with a large, multi-state firm in Wilmington for several years handling a broad spectrum of defense litigation matters. He began his law career in Spartanburg, SC, focusing on litigation involving design and construction defects, professional negligence, and commercial disputes. Throughout his career, Matt has worked intimately with clients ranging from insurance carriers and Fortune 500 corporations to engineers and other professionals to small business owners and individuals. In addition to litigation, Matt counsels business and individual clients on methods to proactively reduce their legal risks, helping them implement best practices for identifying and addressing concerns prior to litigation.

Originally from Hickory, NC, Matt attended Davidson College, where he was a four-year letter winner on the Division-I baseball team and was elected by his teammates to be a captain his senior season. He earned recognition on the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After working in Charleston following college, Matt continued his education and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. During his time at USC Law, Matt was on the Dean’s List, an editor of the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal, a student member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court, and in the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He further complemented his studies by working in well-respected litigation firms throughout his second and third years of law school.

Matt and his wife, Lacey, live in Davidson with their son Garland and their dog Hansel. Matt is an avid golfer, music and outdoors enthusiast, and loves to travel when he can. He serves on the Town of Davidson’s Planning Board, is a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church, a regular participant in the NC Bar 4ALL Service Day, and active on the Mecklenburg Bar Lawyer Referral Service Committee.
