Ron Skufca Selected as a 2018 Leader in the Law

We’re proud to announce that Skufca Law founder, Ron Skufca was selected as one of North Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly 2018 Leaders in the Law.  NCLW honors legal professionals licensed and practicing law in the state of North Carolina, who have gone above and beyond in their profession and their community. These honorees represent the most influential individuals within our state’s legal community.

Ron’s long-term commitment to his clients, his passion for his law practice as well as his personal and long-standing investment in the community shows that he is a true leader in law. Please help us congratulate Ron on this achievement and read more about Ron’s background, his legal practice, and involvement in the community.

Ron Skufca started his law firm in the Charlotte South End community in January 2005, as he saw the potential for growth in this part of town after moving to Charlotte in 1998 and living in the adjoining Dilworth neighborhood.  Skufca Law (formerly Moretz&Skufca) has been the source for legal services in South End for over a decade, a community in which Ron has immersed himself personally and professionally.

Ron has always been actively involved in his community, having served on the board of the Dilworth Community Development Association as a long-time Dilworth resident; as a member of the Dilworth South End Rotary club; as a coach, board member and sponsor for Dilworth Little League for over a decade; a sponsor of Myers Park High School baseball; a participant in the 24 Hrs of Booty cycling fundraising event in Myers Park, having personally raised thousands of dollars to help cancer organizations; as well as other community organizations and events.

In 2013, Ron founded the South End Shuffle 5K & Mile Run running race to benefit the Purple Promise Foundation to End Melanoma cancer and the Charlotte Rail Trail.  The South End Shuffle has seen significant growth over the last 5 years and has helped raise money and increase awareness to these two local non-profit organizations that have personal and local connections Ron and his law firm.  The South End Shuffle is also becoming a South End neighborhood tradition – a fun and healthy event bringing businesses, residents and neighbors together.

Just as Ron has a personal commitment to the community in which he works, he also shares a personal connection to the clients he serves. Ron’s personal life experiences and business background allows him to closely relate with his clients in each of his primary practice areas – business law, construction law, motorsports law, and family law.  While Ron was in middle school, his parents separated and Ron knows firsthand the difficulties and challenges that he and his younger brother went through as their family changed. After his parents’ divorce, Ron worked in construction for number of years when his mother built residential homes and worked on small commercial projects. In the meantime, Ron shared his father’s passion for cars and motorsports, travelling to race tracks on weekends, racing and working on cars and motorcycles in their time together.  More recently, Ron and his family have had various business interests outside of the practice of law and understand what it means to start and run your own business. Ron works directly with each of his clients with unparalleled commitment, understanding, compassion, and care.

Ron currently serves as outside general counsel to several of his long-time business clients while continuing to work with individuals starting their own business or to resolve disputes that may arise.  Ron is dedicated to helping both new and longtime business owners in a cost effective and efficient manner. Some of Ron’s representative clients are General Contractor JDG Goodrum Construction, who built Romare Bearden Park in Uptown Charlotte, Charlotte Mechanical, who has worked on many of the multi-family projects driving the growth of South End Charlotte, and Front Row Motorsports, a three car NASCAR cup series team.

In summary, Ron’s long-term commitment and passion to his law practice, as well as his personal and long-standing investment in the community, shows that he is a true leader in law in Charlotte, NC.
